When Stephanie, a diehard Giants fan, said that she wore a Dodgers shirt to impress Mark on their first date, we knew that there was some serious dedication between these two.  (As a Yankees fan I can’t imagine wearing a Red Sox shirt….ever.  Luckily Ian has the same affinity for the Yankees, so no problem there.)  There was another story that Mark and Stephanie told in their interviews that showed that same serious dedication.  Stephanie invited Mark over to cook him dinner.  She wanted to cook him her dad’s famous chili.  Apparently Stephanie made it all her own….and put in three times the amount of cayenne pepper!  Yowza!!  Stephanie described it as inedible, but Mark ate it.  He ate it all.  This was the moment when both of them realized that this was something lasting.

Mark and Stephanie are two dedicated people.  Dedicated to their work.  Dedicated to their family and friends.  And most importantly, dedicated to each other.  As Mark mentions in the final moments of this film, “they make a good team.”  And they really do.  Who knew a Dodgers fan and a Giants fan would make the perfect team?!  All in the name of love, dedication, and marriage I guess….

“If I were to live my life a thousand times, a thousand times I would choose you.”  These were the words that Kelly spoke to Brent as she read her vows and this is a perfect way to describe Kelly and Brent’s relationship.  No matter the day, the time, the year, the place, Kelly and Brent would end up together a thousand times.  And on a Friday in June, in the afternoon, in 2011, in Burbank…they ended up together forever.

When we met Kelly and Brent a couple months back to film their Love Story, they told us how they had a great group of friends that they loved to take care of.  I can only imagine that they learned this from their amazing parents.  The whole day felt like a family affair.  Even Ian and I felt like we were part of the family.  I spent a lot of my time talking and laughing with Kelly’s mum and sister in law.  And let me tell you, those Brits know how to have fun!  (Confession: I kind of want to be adopted by Kelly’s mum.)

There are so many things that happened on their day that I wanted to write about.  But if I wrote about each and everyone, this posting would be too long.  Trust me.  I’m a big fan of lists (just ask Ian).  So I thought I would list some of my favorite moments:  Kelly’s father tearing up as he walked her down the aisle, Brent’s surprise song he sang to Kelly, the cake falling apart, the bridal party dancing “Thriller”, Brent’s Best Man making a tuna fish sandwich during his toast, the awesome flip book booth, and lastly Kelly and Brent’s vows.  Much love to you guys!

Giddy.  I think the proper word is giddy.  When I saw that Jayme & Mitchell’s Backyard Wedding was published over on Grey Likes Weddings…I was giddy.  And the title was what made me giddy.  “Why a Videographer Should Be On Your Must Have List.” Because I totally believe this, and not just because I love making wedding films.  But because Ian and I did not get a wedding film.  At the time we got married the wedding videography market had nothing that was artistically where we wanted it to be.  There were no “films” yet.  But NOW THERE ARE!  And like Grey said, a lot of couples are moving videography off the “wish list” and onto the “must list.”  My favorite line you ask?  “Scrap the lobster!  We’re going for the videographer!”

A while back Phil worked in a real estate office.  This office had plans of hiring someone and so they had been interviewing people.  One day a gorgeous woman walked into the office to interview for the position.  Phil caught a glance of her…his heart skipping a beat and time standing still.  After the interview ended and the gorgeous woman left, Phil when into his boss’s office.  He told his boss (who was also his friend), “You have to hire that woman.  She’s the one.”  And Phil didn’t mean that she was the one for the job, she was the one for him.  He knew it.  Phil’s boss kindly obliged and Gabby got the job.  And that brings us to their wedding day…

Right now I could talk about my favorite center pieces I have ever seen: vintage, antique items from Gabby & Phil’s own home.  I could talk about the most amazing ‘guest book’ I have ever seen: an old door.  I could talk about the coolest Best Man: their bulldog Brutus.  I could talk about the perfect venues that seemed to have been created for Gabby & Phil…but I won’t.  Instead I’m going to focus on the most amazing part of the day.  Gabby & Phil’s love.  One of Phil’s good friends officiated Gabby and Phil’s wedding.  Having someone with such an intimate knowledge and relationship added a level of depth to his words that we have seldom encountered.  Just as Gabby and Phil were preparing to say their vows, Ken used a phrase in describing marriage that I think is very a pro po for Phil and Gabby.  He referred to marriage as the union of two hearts.  As Ian and I stood there and were witnesses to this union I could not help but think, it is not actually a union of two hearts for Phil and Gabby, it is a reunion.  Two parts coming back together to once again be whole.  When two people are so inextricably bound together, there is an electricity in the air.  It makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and tears pool at the corner of your eyes.  We had only spoken with Phil and Gabby once prior to their wedding and yet we sat and filmed them as if they were long time friends.  True love is an idea that seems to have only been fashioned for novels and films, but I am here to tell you that it is real, and these two souls have it.

Style Me Pretty is the end all be all of wedding blogs.  The Queen Bee of the blog wedding scene!  Ever since Ian and I started this business it has been a dream of mine to have a film appear on this blog.  So as you can imagine when we saw that Jonathan & Francine’s Long Branch wedding was on the front page on SMP’s Little Black Book Blog we were ecstatic…thrilled…jumping-out-of-our-seats excited!  I think Eddie, one of our interns, thought I was a little crazy…but I didn’t care.  This is SMP people!  Moving on.

Shout out to  Turn Loose the Art‘s killer photos and Adrienne over at Bespoke Affairs for her sexy South Beach design.  Ian and I absolutely LOVE Fran & Jon.  They are just the best.  If you haven’t seen their film, be sure to watch as their wedding day was full of so much fun.  Our film is at the end.  Make sure to leave some comment love…

This is our second wedding at Santa Margarita Ranch and the first wedding, Jackie & Jamison, set the bar high.  Luckily this wedding matched it.  It was a gorgeous day and the weather could not have been better for Steph and Gregg.  These two have quite a story.  They dated while in college for a bit, but kept in touch throughout the years…  And reconnected 12 years later!  Knowing that they found their match, it was a quick courtship.  These two pair up well with one another.  They are both strong and intelligent with a sharp sense of humor.  Something that didn’t make it into the interviews (but is absolutely hysterical) is that after years of having a phone/email relationship they decided to see each other in person.  Gregg thought it would be funny to tell Stephanie that time had not treated him well and that he was morbidly obese (his words)!  When Steph finally saw him she quickly realized that he had only been joking.  They are such a good unit and on the day of their wedding we could tell that these two were marrying their best friend.  They spent their wedding day laughing with their friends, family, and each other.  It was relaxed and charming to see these two share this day with their loved ones.  May we all be so lucky…

Their wedding day could not have been more perfect.  Leslie, Jayme’s mom, worked tirelessly on the effortless design of the event which was held on the front lawns of a private property.  It added a perfect personal touch and that carried on through the entire wedding.  Another personal touch?  Brad, Jayme’s father, married Jayme and Mitchell.  It was so overwhelming to witness what could be considered the ultimate ‘blessing’ that a father could have on his daughter’s marriage.  As for Jayme and Mitchell on the day, they could not have looked more gorgeous.  I’m not kidding.  Just so freakin’ gorgeous.  But more than that, it was amazing to see these two as a unit.  When Jayme and Mitchell saw each other for the first look, they came alive!  They are a perfect example of the sum is greater than the parts.  These two sparkle when they are together.

On a personal note, this was the first wedding that Ian and I did both the photography & videography.  I photographed the wedding (with help from Hailey Golich) and Ian filmed the wedding (with help from John Williford).  We have a lot of experience filming weddings, but just started photographing them.  So I must thank Jayme and Mitchell for allowing me to photograph their wedding.  They put their trust and faith in me and that means the world to me.  Congrats you two!  We love you!!!

Hi Everyone!  We are BACK!!  I know it has been forever since we posted a film for you to watch and we apologize.  We (luckily) had a some down time since wedding season ended for us last December.  We have been editing non stop on last year’s weddings during that time.  And now that wedding season is in full swing again we will have many weddings that will be posted soon.

But before we get into the weddings, we are going to share with you our first Love Story for the year.  Meet Kelly + Brent.  These two are just awesome.  Kelly + Brent decided to document their story for a very special reason.  Kelly is from England and a lot of her family will not be able to make it across the pond to experience her wedding.  Kelly + Brent wanted to make sure that her family could see the love that they had for each other, so they decided on the Love Story.  For the record, I am sooooo glad they chose the Love Story because they have so many amazing stories.  It was hard to edit them down because they are so elaborate and wonderful (thus the 16 minute film).  Kelly + Brent are so perfectly paired.  We had a wonderful day hanging out with them and cannot wait for their wedding later in June in Burbank, CA.  This film is a long one, so give it time to load before you start watching.  Enjoy their story!

And while you’re at it, don’t you want to watch Kelly & Brent’s wedding highlight film?

We were beyond surprised to see this feature over on Brides.com.  I mean…BRIDES.COM!!!  Ian and I were totally shocked when we woke up on a regular old Monday and saw that Jackie + Jamison had been featured…yet again!  We had absolutely NO idea that Phillip Crook with Brides.com and BRIDES Magazine had found this film.  So needless to say, we were honored.

Another exciting bit of news.  Phillip Crook is writing an article about pre wedding films and the benefit of these films.  He emailed us the other week to ask if he could interview us on the subject because he thought our films were a perfect example of this type of service, particularly Jackie + Jamison’s film collection as well as Kendra + Justin’s Love Story.  (eeeeek!)  So of course we obliged.  The article will be on newsstands late July in many of the Local editions they publish.  So look for your copy in your region!

We are beyond excited and thrilled that Jackie + Jamison’s tear-inducing film has been featured over at Grey Likes Weddings.   If you are not familiar with this blog, I now introduce you to Grey.  “Couture Motion reader….this is Grey….Grey….this is Couture Motion reader.”  I LOVE this blog and often find myself pulling images for inspiration way beyond weddings and into home design and wardrobe.

Please take time to read Jackie’s words on her wedding.  Jackie wasn’t sure if she was going to be able to budget in a wedding film, but after some tweaking she got it done.  She has a perfect way of describing why a wedding film is so invaluable.

And while you’re at it, why not watch this goodie again.  Enjoy!  Happy Saturday…
