As Yankee fans, sometimes we have to set aside our differences and embrace a couple whose affinity lies with another team.  There is one team that is harder for us to swallow than the rest.  The Boston Red Sox.  With this particular couple, we weren’t the only ones with the challenge.  You see Emily’s family hails from the Chicago area and they love the Cubs.  Daniel is a die hard Red Sox fan.  Somehow these two were able to see past their differences and fall in love.

Emily and Daniel had a beautiful day.  Nestled at the Fess Parker, just steps from the beach, these two were ready for this day.  Their love for one another was ever present throughout the day.  It was obvious that they steadied one another.  Even more evident was the support they received from their families.  It’s always so special to see two families embrace one another and integrate.  Emily’s father, who officiated the ceremony, tasked the guests to support Emily and Daniel in their journey of marriage together, and that type of love and care are clearly what has made Emily and Daniel the people that they are today.

We love when we get to film our first wedding of the season.  We’ve had a nice off season to edit feature films, spend time with family and friends, and do some personal projects.  But it’s always nice to get back to the wedding day.  No matter how many weddings we’ve filmed, there is always something magical about the first wedding of the season.  That was no different for Ryan & Alli.  We were so thrilled to document this day for them.  Ryan & Alli chose the beautiful Villa 46 Wines (also known as Calipaso Winery) in Paso Robles to become one.  This venue is so gorgeous and reflected Alli & Ryan so perfectly.  Thanks for letting us be a part of your day!

A while back Phil worked in a real estate office.  This office had plans of hiring someone and so they had been interviewing people.  One day a gorgeous woman walked into the office to interview for the position.  Phil caught a glance of her…his heart skipping a beat and time standing still.  After the interview ended and the gorgeous woman left, Phil when into his boss’s office.  He told his boss (who was also his friend), “You have to hire that woman.  She’s the one.”  And Phil didn’t mean that she was the one for the job, she was the one for him.  He knew it.  Phil’s boss kindly obliged and Gabby got the job.  And that brings us to their wedding day…

Right now I could talk about my favorite center pieces I have ever seen: vintage, antique items from Gabby & Phil’s own home.  I could talk about the most amazing ‘guest book’ I have ever seen: an old door.  I could talk about the coolest Best Man: their bulldog Brutus.  I could talk about the perfect venues that seemed to have been created for Gabby & Phil…but I won’t.  Instead I’m going to focus on the most amazing part of the day.  Gabby & Phil’s love.  One of Phil’s good friends officiated Gabby and Phil’s wedding.  Having someone with such an intimate knowledge and relationship added a level of depth to his words that we have seldom encountered.  Just as Gabby and Phil were preparing to say their vows, Ken used a phrase in describing marriage that I think is very a pro po for Phil and Gabby.  He referred to marriage as the union of two hearts.  As Ian and I stood there and were witnesses to this union I could not help but think, it is not actually a union of two hearts for Phil and Gabby, it is a reunion.  Two parts coming back together to once again be whole.  When two people are so inextricably bound together, there is an electricity in the air.  It makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and tears pool at the corner of your eyes.  We had only spoken with Phil and Gabby once prior to their wedding and yet we sat and filmed them as if they were long time friends.  True love is an idea that seems to have only been fashioned for novels and films, but I am here to tell you that it is real, and these two souls have it.

This is our second wedding at Santa Margarita Ranch and the first wedding, Jackie & Jamison, set the bar high.  Luckily this wedding matched it.  It was a gorgeous day and the weather could not have been better for Steph and Gregg.  These two have quite a story.  They dated while in college for a bit, but kept in touch throughout the years…  And reconnected 12 years later!  Knowing that they found their match, it was a quick courtship.  These two pair up well with one another.  They are both strong and intelligent with a sharp sense of humor.  Something that didn’t make it into the interviews (but is absolutely hysterical) is that after years of having a phone/email relationship they decided to see each other in person.  Gregg thought it would be funny to tell Stephanie that time had not treated him well and that he was morbidly obese (his words)!  When Steph finally saw him she quickly realized that he had only been joking.  They are such a good unit and on the day of their wedding we could tell that these two were marrying their best friend.  They spent their wedding day laughing with their friends, family, and each other.  It was relaxed and charming to see these two share this day with their loved ones.  May we all be so lucky…

The word of the day was comfortable.  Everything felt comfortable about this day.  Kori was very comfortable as she got ready, surrounded by all her bridesmaids.  Mark was very  comfortable watching the final game of the World Cup with all of his groomsmen.  They both didn’t seem stressed or nervous in the slightest.  Kori + Mark have been friends for years when they realized that the partner in life that they were searching for was right in front of them.  So why would this day be anything but comforting to them.

They got married in beautiful Santa Barbara overlooking the Pacific Ocean.  And after quite a gloomy morning, the marine layer appropriately burned off just as we went off to take some photos.  Their reception took place on the rooftop of the Canary Hotel overlooking downtown Santa Barbara while the sun politely set and gave us some amazing back lighting to work with.  Kori, Mark, and their guests really know how to dance!  Everyone there was so happy to be at the party with them and showed their support with their dance moves!

You might remember the emotional highlight film for Jackie + Jamison’s wedding.  Remember them?  The beautiful couple whose love is so passionate it could probably move mountains…Yes you remember!  Well Laurel White over at Adornments: Flowers & Finery has featured their wedding on her blog.  Let me just mention something about Laurel White.  If you are getting married on the Central Coast of California, you MUST call her.  Her flowers are to die for.  She designs flowers that look like they are straight from the catalog of Anthropologie.  But her coordination skills are impeccable.  Thanks to Laurel, Jackie and Jamison’s wedding was run flawlessly and without any stress.  Honestly…call Laurel…you will not regret it.

Laurel said a lot of kind words about us.  She also did a great job of articulating the benefit of having a film.  Here’s what she said:

“Wherever there is a celebration of devotion, filming it is an everlasting way to relive it.  Beautiful moments that you don’t even realize happened are there forever.  Tears of joy – there’s nothing more pure.  I rejoice when couples choose to have their wedding captured by a talented videographer. Couture Motion Wedding Films took on this wedding with passion – interested to know every detail.  I am very impressed.”
