Misty & Greg are very humble and down to earth.  Their love resonates deeply and profoundly.  We have been in this business long enough to know that there are different types of people, relationships, and love.  Despite this very austere facade, their wedding was a flourish of DIY and vintage charm.  Misty had a vision for the design and feel of her wedding, and she went all out in achieving that look.  They little details abounded and reflected the care that she put into the wedding.  She had dozens of little DIY charms and a lot of vintage pieces spread throughout the venue.  Misty really turned the blank slate into Pinterest magic.  To Greg’s credit, he was there to help support Misty and her vision, which I’m sure every guy out there can attest to, that is a full time job in and of itself.  The work that Misty put into the look and feel of the wedding was reflected in the experience of the day as well.  These two really remind us what commitment really means, and the depth of the decision to give ones life over to another.  It was a beautiful day because it was a beautiful couple.

This was our first wedding in Santa Cruz, and we couldn’t have been happier to have our first experience be with Jon and Danielle.  They both live in Oakland, but Danielle went to school in Santa Cruz and really loved the area.  Getting married in the swanky Dream Inn provided just the right atmosphere for this fun beach wedding.  Often times brides will either be nervous or a little jittery, but Danielle just seemed alive and excited.  She just seemed completely on.  Like if she decided to go do standup at that exact moment she could have the crowd rolling in the aisles with laughter.  This seemed to be her element.  And it made her look more beautiful than ever.  I hesitate to use the word, twinkle in her eye, since it is such a cliche, but I swear there was a twinkle in her eyes!

Another one of the highlights of the evening was the toasts.  One of Jon and Danielle’s nearest and dearest friends gave a speech that must have gone on at least for ten minutes.  Most of the time I would not recommend that someone give such a long speech.  However, if you can alternate between being laugh out loud funny, and tear inducingly sincere, then you are given a free pass.  All in all this wedding was very comforting.  Jon and Danielle fit together like puzzle pieces.  And all their friends and family loved them and were there that day to support them and to celebrate with them.  It really was a perfect beach wedding.  And if you’d like to know more about how Jon & Danielle came to be, check out their Love Story!

Chris and Lauren know how to have fun.  A lot of people tend to get nervous the day of their wedding.  They sit around anxiously and let the pressure build.  They want to get through the ceremony so they can relax and have some fun.  Chris didn’t wait till after the ceremony.  We arrived at 10am to film him jumping his bike into the lake on the property.  With a group of his best friends we watched and filmed as they ramped up their speed heading down the driveway and then up and over the ramp, flying through the air a few feet before ditching the bike and splashing into the water.  See what I mean.  They know how to have fun.

As they day progressed their fun loving selves did give way to the emotional side as Lauren’s dad came in to see his little girl in her wedding dress for the first time.  It’s one of the hidden perks of our jobs to be there for these moments.  It was such a delight to see his face light up with pride and awe in his daughter.  This particular ceremony had a deeper meaning than usual as both fathers played a large role.  For Chris, his father unfortunately passed away less than two months before the wedding in an accident.  In a moment that had Ian and I both choked up, Chris wanted to leave a empty seat at the ceremony, reserved for his father who was watching on from above.  As for Lauren’s father, he was the officiant and presided over their union.  Lauren’s father was eloquent and moving as he helped join Chris and Lauren in matrimony.

Their day was a celebration.  A celebration of life and love.  Once the ceremony was over Lauren and Chris kicked back and partied the night away with all of their friends.  It was hard for us to not put our camera’s down and join in on the dancing.

Sometimes with our couples we see what I like to call “the simplicity of love.”  It sounds cheesy…I know.  But it’s true!  There’s a moment in this film where Laura looks up at Blake during the ceremony and smiles.  But not any old regular smile…a huge big smile that just exudes love and warmth.  And Blake.  During his interview we asked him what he is thankful for in his relationship.  He responded with, “I’m so thankful that I met her.”  I couldn’t help but appreciate the simplicity of that statement.  This is something that I don’t know if I ever thought to be thankful for in my relationship but thanks to Blake now I am.  Blake & Laura have the simplicity of love perfected.  Thanks for including us on your day!

You might remember Justin + Kendra from their Love Story.  (And if you haven’t watched that film yet, I highly suggest checking that out before watching their wedding highlight.)  On their wedding day, Justin and Kendra just couldn’t wait to marry each other.  They were ready to take that huge step together and become one.  And I must say, that I saw their transformation throughout the day and it was beautiful.  And I’m sure their family and friends saw that very same transformation.

It’s wonderful to be around Justin and Kendra.  It was a lot of fun to be there on the wedding day and constantly laughing with them.  Beyond their humor, they are incredibly sweet with one another.  Justin and Kendra sang a song together and then Justin surprised Kendra by singing “Just the Way You Are” to her.  And that’s why we used Bruno Mars’ song.  They are so adorable.  We wish them luck in their new digs in Tennessee!

Patrick and Ashlee are two super cute people who are perfect for each other.  They are both so easy going and such nice people.  Honestly from the second you meet them you feel like you can just kick back and hang out, despite the fact that they are Red Sox Fans.  We won’t hold it against them.  On the day of the wedding, Patrick and Ashlee were so stoked to be marrying each other. Patrick looked so calm and collected as he waited for the ceremony to begin.  Ashlee looked beautiful in her dress that she snagged from the Little White Dress Bridal Boutique.  It was completed with a cathedral length veil that had lace trimming from her mother’s wedding dress (talk about a perfect ‘something old’).  In my mind their ‘something new’ was their baby Annabella, who is still on the way.  Congrats you guys!!!  Their day was fantastic and we hope you enjoy their story.
