When we write a post to go along with the film, we like to tell you more about the day and the couple.  However, with Mika & Robin, we don’t need to.  Everything that is said in their film says it better than we ever could.  So enjoy their film!

We get to witness some pretty amazing things in our business.  Amazing locations, beautiful details, some of the most elaborate celebrations that have ever existed.  But all of that pales in comparison when we get to witness two people that care about each other and support one another on the deepest of levels.  It literally brings a smile to our faces and a tear to our eyes.  Dani & Matt did just that.  Seeing how they locked eyes while delivering personally written ardent vows, we witnessed a pretty amazing and beautiful thing.   Take away the stunning dress, take away the flowers and chandelier, remove the chairs and the little details.  This still would have been an amazing moment for Dani & Matt.  And we were honored to witness that.

Jason & Janelle first contacted us a year and a half ago, just days after they got engaged.  We were so thrilled they wanted to work with us because they were a laid back, creative, awesome couple.  We couldn’t wait to start filming their story.  It started with them coming to Bakersfield to film their Save the Date, which you might remember watching.  It was a blast to collaborate on such a fun film and great to hear that their guests enjoyed their inventive way to announce their wedding.  Then we went on a road trip up to Sequoia Valley to film their Love Story.  We went ice skating with them (which Megan enjoyed), we went snowboarding with them (which Ian enjoyed), and we played with their fantastic dog Shortee in the snow (which we all enjoyed).  They showed this film at their reception, sharing their story with everyone.  At this point we had spent several days with Jason & Janelle, and when their wedding day rolled around in Clarksburg, it was like watching our friends get married.  Our friends who we have traveled all over California with.  We were overjoyed to see these two people get hitched at the ridiculously cool venue at the Old Sugar Mill.  And as a huge bonus we got to work with photographer and friend Scott Andrew for the third time.  So happy for you Jason & Janelle!  When we are in northern California next we will hit up the slopes (not Megan), do some ice skating (not Ian), and throw back some courage juice (all of us)!

Jason and Janelle contacted us just days after Jason got down on one knee in Squaw Valley.  After an awesome Skype meeting, Jason and Janelle proposed to us.  No seriously.  Their email read, “Will you and Ian be our videographers at our July 28th, 2012 wedding?”  And of course we said YES!  The excitement of working with Jason and Janelle has not died down either.  They have kept us going with creative ideas for the Save the Date and Love Story (which is coming later this year…and includes snowboarding).

Jason and Janelle had the idea of doing a slideshow at their wedding, but they wanted to elevate the idea.  So we figured out a way to capture the sentiment of a slideshow while being more original.  Here’s the result!  A fun and creative way to share with their wedding guests how they came together and announce their wedding date!  Save the Date everyone!

This was our first wedding in Santa Cruz, and we couldn’t have been happier to have our first experience be with Jon and Danielle.  They both live in Oakland, but Danielle went to school in Santa Cruz and really loved the area.  Getting married in the swanky Dream Inn provided just the right atmosphere for this fun beach wedding.  Often times brides will either be nervous or a little jittery, but Danielle just seemed alive and excited.  She just seemed completely on.  Like if she decided to go do standup at that exact moment she could have the crowd rolling in the aisles with laughter.  This seemed to be her element.  And it made her look more beautiful than ever.  I hesitate to use the word, twinkle in her eye, since it is such a cliche, but I swear there was a twinkle in her eyes!

Another one of the highlights of the evening was the toasts.  One of Jon and Danielle’s nearest and dearest friends gave a speech that must have gone on at least for ten minutes.  Most of the time I would not recommend that someone give such a long speech.  However, if you can alternate between being laugh out loud funny, and tear inducingly sincere, then you are given a free pass.  All in all this wedding was very comforting.  Jon and Danielle fit together like puzzle pieces.  And all their friends and family loved them and were there that day to support them and to celebrate with them.  It really was a perfect beach wedding.  And if you’d like to know more about how Jon & Danielle came to be, check out their Love Story!
