The word of the day was comfortable.  Everything felt comfortable about this day.  Kori was very comfortable as she got ready, surrounded by all her bridesmaids.  Mark was very  comfortable watching the final game of the World Cup with all of his groomsmen.  They both didn’t seem stressed or nervous in the slightest.  Kori + Mark have been friends for years when they realized that the partner in life that they were searching for was right in front of them.  So why would this day be anything but comforting to them.

They got married in beautiful Santa Barbara overlooking the Pacific Ocean.  And after quite a gloomy morning, the marine layer appropriately burned off just as we went off to take some photos.  Their reception took place on the rooftop of the Canary Hotel overlooking downtown Santa Barbara while the sun politely set and gave us some amazing back lighting to work with.  Kori, Mark, and their guests really know how to dance!  Everyone there was so happy to be at the party with them and showed their support with their dance moves!

You might remember the emotional highlight film for Jackie + Jamison’s wedding.  Remember them?  The beautiful couple whose love is so passionate it could probably move mountains…Yes you remember!  Well Laurel White over at Adornments: Flowers & Finery has featured their wedding on her blog.  Let me just mention something about Laurel White.  If you are getting married on the Central Coast of California, you MUST call her.  Her flowers are to die for.  She designs flowers that look like they are straight from the catalog of Anthropologie.  But her coordination skills are impeccable.  Thanks to Laurel, Jackie and Jamison’s wedding was run flawlessly and without any stress.  Honestly…call Laurel…you will not regret it.

Laurel said a lot of kind words about us.  She also did a great job of articulating the benefit of having a film.  Here’s what she said:

“Wherever there is a celebration of devotion, filming it is an everlasting way to relive it.  Beautiful moments that you don’t even realize happened are there forever.  Tears of joy – there’s nothing more pure.  I rejoice when couples choose to have their wedding captured by a talented videographer. Couture Motion Wedding Films took on this wedding with passion – interested to know every detail.  I am very impressed.”

Megan usually writes the posts for our weddings, but since she is the bride’s sister and was the matron of honor for this wedding, the task falls to me.  For obvious reasons, this day was more meaningful than most for us.  I’ve known Kaelyn for years and I am positive that I have never seen her more happy or more beautiful than she was that day.  There was a glow in her eyes and a smile always on her lips.  The weather had been rather dreary leading up to the wedding, but on the day it was perfect.  The mountains in the background popped and the grass seemed more vibrant than usual.  The pace of life in Montana is a little slower than California, and that helped us all appreciate the day and the moment that much more.

Megan’s family is a very tight group that loves to love.  On this day they all came out to celebrate Kaelyn’s love and add to it.  It was the perfect place, the perfect time, and the perfect group of loved ones.  At first it felt like a challenge to shoot the wedding without my partner, but by the end of the day I felt blessed to have been able to capture this experience.  So I would just like to thank Kaelyn and her family, my family, for letting me be witness to the kind of love that we all aspire to feel.

We didn’t meet Jackie + Jamison in person until we filmed their interviews in April.  Right away when I met them, I could tell that they had the kind of love for one another that only seemed possible in stories.  There always seemed to be a smile waiting to burst out because they could not contain their feelings for one another any longer.  They are two of the most genuine, kind, lovable, in the moment people you will ever meet.  When we filmed their interviews, both of them had me crying.  Their stories they told were so moving.  But more than that, what really got me was how appreciative they were.  They knew how lucky they were and to see them bask in that love was overwhelming.  I said to Jackie at the end of her interview that it’s people like her who teach me how to love better.  By witnessing Jackie and Jamison’s love for each other, I’m reminded of how important it is to appreciate a “world stopping” love.  Every moment of every day.  Ian and I both feel lucky and honored to document their love.
The wedding day was filled with energy and excitement from the moment it started.  There was a feeling in the air that made you want to dance.  There is no other way to explain it.  Every moment of this day felt like a moment frozen in time.  It was just…awe inspiring.  We wish that we had three more cameras there to capture it all.  Every detail was perfect.  Santa Margarita Ranch is such a cool location.  (Had I known about this 4 years ago, this is where I would have chosen to get married.)  Jackie was a vision of perfection in her heart stopping San Patrick Dress.  Jamison could not have looked more handsome in his gorgeous suit.  The icing on the cake…was the cake.  Jackie + Jamison call each other ‘Moo’…wait until you see that cake…
Honestly I could go on and on about them.  But instead I will cease my typing and let you enjoy their wedding highlight film.  Without further ado….Jackie + Jamison!

Featured again!  We are  stoked to have Tracy + Matt’s Love Story featured on Scott Andrew’s Blog.  Scott Andrew is an AMAZING photographer in Northern California.  Something we always like to do once we book a wedding is check out our couple’s photographer.  One look at Scott’s work…and we were left with our jaws on the floor.  His work is so elegant and we can’t wait to work with Scott in New York City at Tracy + Matt’s wedding at Capitale next month.  Thanks Scott!

Our first time being published!  We are so honored to have Matt + Tracy’s Love Story featured over at Bespoke Affairs.  We met wedding and event planner Adrienne Colosimo (via the wonderful world of email) a couple months back and can’t wait to work with her on some of her weddings.  Brides should head over to her blog for some inspiring tips.

First of all Matt and Tracy are very cool people. They are both hilarious and fun to hang out with. We basically spent the whole day with them while we shot and really got to know them. And trust us…they’re good peeps.  It is going to be a total blast to film their wedding in July. With their collective creativity and dedication to quality, the wedding will be beyond stunning and it will really give us an incredible background to tell their stories against.  This is a new short film the Couture Motion is beginning to offer. The Save the Date. If you’re interested in your own Save the Date, be sure to contact us!

We are back!!  After a couple months off from filming weddings we are back with our first highlight of 2012 with Ashley & Kyle!  I have known Ashley & Kyle for quite some time.  Probably more years than I’d like to admit.  Growing up Ashley was a really good friend of my cousin.  Kyle and I first met in junior high (Go Tevis Rangers!).   But I hadn’t seen them in years! So I was thrilled that they came to us to document their day.  And what a day it was!  Kyle and Ashley exchanged their heartfelt vows as the sun set on the gorgeous, sprawling grounds at Cellar360 (formerly Meridian Vineyards) in Paso Robles.  As the day turned into night, they took their party inside into the amazing barrel room.  Kyle really set the tone for this party when he surprised Ashley with a dance to Michael Jackson’s P.Y.T.  For the record, if Couture Motion gave an award for Best Dancer, Kyle would win hands down.  Definitely a highlight for us, as I’m sure it was for all the guests.

This was our first wedding in Santa Cruz, and we couldn’t have been happier to have our first experience be with Jon and Danielle.  They both live in Oakland, but Danielle went to school in Santa Cruz and really loved the area.  Getting married in the swanky Dream Inn provided just the right atmosphere for this fun beach wedding.  Often times brides will either be nervous or a little jittery, but Danielle just seemed alive and excited.  She just seemed completely on.  Like if she decided to go do standup at that exact moment she could have the crowd rolling in the aisles with laughter.  This seemed to be her element.  And it made her look more beautiful than ever.  I hesitate to use the word, twinkle in her eye, since it is such a cliche, but I swear there was a twinkle in her eyes!

Another one of the highlights of the evening was the toasts.  One of Jon and Danielle’s nearest and dearest friends gave a speech that must have gone on at least for ten minutes.  Most of the time I would not recommend that someone give such a long speech.  However, if you can alternate between being laugh out loud funny, and tear inducingly sincere, then you are given a free pass.  All in all this wedding was very comforting.  Jon and Danielle fit together like puzzle pieces.  And all their friends and family loved them and were there that day to support them and to celebrate with them.  It really was a perfect beach wedding.  And if you’d like to know more about how Jon & Danielle came to be, check out their Love Story!

Chris and Lauren know how to have fun.  A lot of people tend to get nervous the day of their wedding.  They sit around anxiously and let the pressure build.  They want to get through the ceremony so they can relax and have some fun.  Chris didn’t wait till after the ceremony.  We arrived at 10am to film him jumping his bike into the lake on the property.  With a group of his best friends we watched and filmed as they ramped up their speed heading down the driveway and then up and over the ramp, flying through the air a few feet before ditching the bike and splashing into the water.  See what I mean.  They know how to have fun.

As they day progressed their fun loving selves did give way to the emotional side as Lauren’s dad came in to see his little girl in her wedding dress for the first time.  It’s one of the hidden perks of our jobs to be there for these moments.  It was such a delight to see his face light up with pride and awe in his daughter.  This particular ceremony had a deeper meaning than usual as both fathers played a large role.  For Chris, his father unfortunately passed away less than two months before the wedding in an accident.  In a moment that had Ian and I both choked up, Chris wanted to leave a empty seat at the ceremony, reserved for his father who was watching on from above.  As for Lauren’s father, he was the officiant and presided over their union.  Lauren’s father was eloquent and moving as he helped join Chris and Lauren in matrimony.

Their day was a celebration.  A celebration of life and love.  Once the ceremony was over Lauren and Chris kicked back and partied the night away with all of their friends.  It was hard for us to not put our camera’s down and join in on the dancing.
