We love when couples make the day unique to them.  When they pack the day with as many personal, unique things is the best.  Tracy & Dustin did not disappoint.  Every single detail you see during this film was carefully designed and deliberately placed at the wedding.  It was amazing.  (Bonus points to Tracy and Dustin for taking time during dinner to walk around and taking a look at all the details.)  But more than the details, we love when they personalize the events.  The major moment that we are talking about was their Secret Vows.  Dustin & Tracy are pretty shy people and don’t like being the center of attention.  So saying their personally written vows in front of all of their guests was a bit overwhelming.  Instead, Tracy & Dustin opted to read their vows to each other prior to the ceremony.  Dustin didn’t want to see Tracy until she walked down the aisle, so they did this back to back, grasping their hands and hearing each others’ voices.  It was one of the coolest moments of the day.

We love when we get to film our first wedding of the season.  We’ve had a nice off season to edit feature films, spend time with family and friends, and do some personal projects.  But it’s always nice to get back to the wedding day.  No matter how many weddings we’ve filmed, there is always something magical about the first wedding of the season.  That was no different for Ryan & Alli.  We were so thrilled to document this day for them.  Ryan & Alli chose the beautiful Villa 46 Wines (also known as Calipaso Winery) in Paso Robles to become one.  This venue is so gorgeous and reflected Alli & Ryan so perfectly.  Thanks for letting us be a part of your day!

We are so thrilled to see Ashley & Brett’s Beverly Wilshire Hotel Wedding featured over on Style Me Pretty’s California page!  We loved filming this wedding with exquisite details and most importantly a fantastic couple.  Check out the feature HERE!  And while you’re there, please take time to enjoy the amazingly gorgeous work from Jordana Hazel of Hazelnut photography.  Jordana is one of our favorite photographers to work with on the day of the wedding!

It’s another family wedding!!!  Brian is my cousin and Andrea has been a part of our family for a long time.  Although Brian grew up in CA and Andrea grew up in NY, they met and fell in love in beautiful Vail, CO.  So that’s where they decided to tie the knot.  They returned to CO back where it all began, but this time they brought their closest friends and family to help them celebrate their new lives.  This location could not have been any prettier.   My gramps made a short speech at this wedding (that of course reduced me to a puddle of tears behind my camera).  This was a momentous occasion for him and my grandma as Brian was their final grandchild to get married.  They have made it to every single wedding, all 10 of them!!  Ian and I then realized that we have had the privilege of filming 6 of those weddings.  We have been so honored to be a part of so many of our cousins and siblings wedding days.

Family.  If you were to ask us to sum up this day in one word, that is the word we would choose.  Ian and I could not have felt more honored and humbled to be a part of this wedding day.  We felt so lucky that this was the first wedding of our 2013 season, and that we got to hang out with Anabel & Joey and their families.  Forty of their closest family and friends traveled from Texas to the amazing Montage Laguna Beach in California.  While the details of this wedding were spectacular and breathtaking, it paled in comparison to the love and emotion that was emanating from everyone.  It was palpable.  This reminded us that this is what the wedding day is really about.  The love between to people with the support and love from their families…this is what we film.

Sometimes when we post a new film we like to point out something that we feel the couple did right on the day. Some moment that we want to pass along to other couples to keep in mind on their wedding day. That moment for Brett & Ashley was the getting ready portion of their day. During our final meeting with our couples we always remind them to soak up every minute of the day. From the second that you wake up that day, whether it be 5am for the brides who can’t stay asleep or 9am for the grooms trying to get as much sleep as possible in preparation for the day ahead, every minute of that day is your wedding day. Ashley & Brett were completely aware of this fact. When we arrived in Ashley’s beautiful room at the Beverly Wilshire the party was already started. Between the dance parties, the girls singing the UCLA fight song, and her friends reminding her that, “It’s all happening!”…it felt like the only thing missing was Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” playing in the background. Over in Brett’s room, his calm demeanor and infectious smile lasted the entire day. Just like Ashely and her girls, Brett and his guys were having a blast and soaking up every minute of this day. It’s pretty rare to have a groom who makes it to the reception and then spends most of his time dancing his butt off, but Brett was an exception. Brett & Ashley owned that floor.

This was our final wedding of the season and in it we found one of our favorite moments. I don’t want to give it away, you’ll just have to watch to know what I am talking about, but this moment that I am referring to is exactly the kind of spontaneous, authentic, and revealing moment that we believe we are meant to capture. It’s the kind of moment that you need a film to capture. This moment speaks volumes about Christopher and Stephanie. It shows how connected they are, how down to earth. It shows what a complement they are to one another. It shows the humor and love in their relationship. It is a moment when they let go of everything, forgot what a big day it was, forgot that there were people watching them and recording them. In this moment it was just them, and from our point of view, there is nothing as beautiful as two people just simply being themselves with one another.

With every wedding we do, we try and take something that we felt the couple did “right” and pass it along to future brides & grooms.  Something that we feel Amelia & Jason did right was that they were in the moment…like really IN. THE. MOMENT.  At all times they realized that this day was like no other day.  I’m not sure that we have had another couple that has soaked up each and every moment like they have.  So future brides & grooms, make sure to soak up and breathe in every single moment on such a transformative day in your life.

Don’t you just love a nautical affair?  We do.  So we were ecstatic when Virginia & James, who are good friends of our past couple Kelsay & Mike, contacted us to do their wedding at the Balboa Yacht Club in Newport Beach, CA.  Virginia & James had the most wonderfully detailed nautical wedding.  I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a bride do so many details by herself.  So kudos to Virginia for all her personal touches.  We loved being able to film these details, but most importantly we loved filming James & Virginia’s experience on this day.  They could not have been more comfortable with the day.  Then again, why would you be anything but comfortable when committing to your best friend?  While Virginia was getting ready she mentioned that she wasn’t nervous at all.  James couldn’t have been more relaxed with his great group of friends while he got ready. So when it came time to say “I do!” they were excited for their future.  They partied hard into the night surrounded by their family and friends, who were fantastic dancers!  Congrats Virginia & James!  We were so honored to film such an exquisite day.

Our final wedding of the year!  We could not be more thankful to finish our busy and eventful season with Ian and Melissa.  I have known Melissa for years.  Back in my previous life as an actor, Melissa and I did summer stock up in scenic Coeur d’Alene, ID.  Summers at CDA were amazing.  I made some wonderful (and talented) friends up there and Melissa was one of them.  I looked up to Melissa so much with her talent, her professionalism, and her gut busting humor.  She’s basically awesomely brilliant in a tiny package.  So when Melissa got engaged to Ian I was over the moon for her.  I hadn’t met Ian, but I had a hunch that he was a good guy just based on his name.  Then when we met each other over Skype a little over a year ago, my suspicions that he was cool were confirmed.  (I mean how can you not love a guy whose love of Christmas goes so far that he decorates his bike with Christmas lights and hangs it on the wall?)

Their wedding day was particularly special.  The thrill of this union spread beyond Ian and Melissa.  It should be mentioned that Ian and Melissa’s parents have known each other for forever.  Seriously.  They live just blocks a part from one another up in Washington.  Despite their parents’ decades of friendship, Ian and Melissa had never met each other.  It was one fateful day at Sea Fair in Seattle where they met.  So on the wedding day it felt like family reunion.  Even I felt like part of the family!  The love and support that Ian and Melissa had coming at them from their friends and family was overwhelming.  It even reached as far as London when Melissa Facetimed with a friend of hers who is performing in Chicago on the West End while she was getting into her dress.

The love that Ian and Melissa have for each other was undeniable.  I think the words spoken at the end of their film say it all.  We were so honored to document this day from start to finish.
